Report

Report:Warrington extended their lead at the top of the table in-front of another superb crowd at the sports club.

This match was always going to be tough for bottom of the table Bollington, but they put up a good fight.

The highlights were definitely the top two matches. Ben Smith has really improved in the last 3 months and last night he displayed how to play perfect squash for 2 games. He controlled the middle of the court with relentless volleying and hitting accurately into all four corners of the court. Some of the winning drop shots he hit were audacious and outrageous. I felt sorry for Lewis who previously has had close matches with Ben. However, testament to Lewis' grit and determination, he did manage to lengthen the rallies in the third game and squeeze a few mistakes out of Ben, but Ben still had enough accuracy and speed of movement to bring home the 3-0 win.

The final match on the show court was the ever-popular, ex-World No.1, James Willstrop. He was playing Simon Herbert, another fast improving 20-year-old. I was very impressed with Simon. He approached the match with a fearless attitude. He hit some sublime winners and ran down every shot possible displaying great athleticism. This was a fast and furious, but still quality match. Everybody in the crowd loved it and James certainly enjoyed his second outing at Warrington this season - compounded by his unique and delicious baked-bean vegan pizza!

Thank you to Bollington for adding an enthusiastic away contingent to the audience.

Next week Warrington play away at Wigan who may possibly have both World top 30 players, Patrick Rooney and Greg Lobban playing for them.
