Report: | NB (RU) FC No 4 = Jason Reed
NB (RU) FC No 5 = Karl Mullins
For the New Brighton boys it was like the Blues Brothers getting the band back together, fielding their strongest team for the first time this season.
Apparently, Jason has lost weight so no need to strengthen the boards for a heavyweight contest at Number 4 string.
Although he may have lost some fitness his racket skills were still able to bamboozle willo, particularly a serve that went below the cut line and bounced twice before it crossed the half court line 🤣
unfortunately the ball spent more time in the yellow of the out of court area than the white walls of the court.
Jason made fewer mistakes and our guests were one up.
There may have been fires to be put out in Liverpool but our own 'Fireman Sam' was on annual leave so keen to get on next and have a few beers and a vegan supper
close encounters in the first two but Karl would play get ahead stay ahead squash and the visitors were two up and Karl was off to make friends with Emma, our barmaid 🍻
Graham Cobden became the proud father of baby No 2 on Tuesday so he was on nappy changing duties, Ketts was away on business and Mark C was poorly so the youngsters took full advantage of their opportunities against the Munn brothers.
some great shots and phenomenal retrieving from all four players but Tom and Liam would squeeze through in five sets against Chris and Nick respectively to square the match.
Tom's match would have made good viewing for Dad, watching via Tattenhall Squash TV in Zimbabwe
so a proper NWCSL Thursday night, match all square at 2-2, Number 1 string going on and everybody else with glasses charged on the balcony.
Ian, probably the best player in the league, got off to a flying start, only to be puuled back by some frantic retrieving and deft trickle boasts from max 1-1,
but that would be as good as it would get for the home team as Thommo dominated the fourth and fifth to take the bonus points back down the M53 and left Tattenhall rueing another close 2-3 defeat ☹
