Report

Report:Max and willo had to barricade the court door to prevent our fourth team from taking both courts for their match, and began to question if we were actually playing at home, so it was a huge relief to see Matt striding up the steep and narrow Tattenhall steps at 7.15,

so a late start but given the standard of squash, worth the wait.

Tom and Matt went hell for leather with some powerful hitting and awesome rallies. whilst it is nice to play on warm courts our youngsters do find it difficult to stop their glasses from steaming up, which means that older players will use the old shoe lace gag to grab a breather but the youngsters have the wipe the glasses trick up their sleeve.

Matt would save game balls in the first and second then got ahead and stayed ahead in the third and our visitors were one up.

Max and carl would also serve up a feast of squash with some remarkable rallies which during the latter points have marker willo reminding the players that the 90 second rest is between games, not between points. Apart from the second which Carl won at a canter, each game could have gone either way but it was Carl who prevailed to put our guests two up.

Despite a spirited fight back in an extended second game, Ethan would get little change out of ruthless Rick and the bonus points were heading down the A41.

in the battle of the CCO old boys, wily old willo would edge the first before jacko's boasts would bamboozle willo and he would take the second and third rather comfortably

see saw squash in the fourth would see willo waste two game balls before saving a match ball and forging ahead to take the match to a fifth set,

Due to turn 60 this saturday, willo was running on empty and Dave would dominate the front of the court with beautiful boasts and delightful drops to close out the match.

fortunately, our fourth team had vacated court 2 so Liam and Rhodri did not have to wait for the marathon to finish.

Liam took the first with ease, Rhodri took the second. Liam would take another mammoth extended game and then continuing his recent purple patch of excellent form would take the fourth to bring some respectability to the card for the home team and increase his squash levels rankings enabling us to just be able to get to the bar before 11pm last orders 🍻 CHEERS!!
