Report

Report: Unusually, only one team at home this evening and honours were even after the first round of matches with Toby playing get ahead, stay ahead squash and thwarting a spirited fight back from max in the third on court 2, whilst on court 1 a contrast of styles would see wily old willo's tippy tappy squash squeeze past hard hitting Andy.

Moxy was stepping up from the second team but would get short shrift from young Tom and being on Dry January could not drown his sorrows ..... roll on February 1st, my friend 🍻

Many adjectives have been used to describe Lee's style of play with Toby's 'awkward' being one of the more polite so he would provide strong opposition in Liam's continuing squash education and would bamboozle the youngster to take the first. Liam hit a purple patch to send Lee on a visit au boulangerie.

two super tight games would be shared before Liam's youthful exuberance would overcome lee's guile and experience and the home team had secured the bonus points.

as has often been said in these reports, there is no such thing as a dead rubber and tonight was no exception with two explosive left handers going toe to toe trying to knock the skin off the ball, beautiful boasts, devilish drives and luscious lobs with no quarter asked and no quarter given with Ethan dominating the first, Dan the second then three games as tight as the duck's proverbial. Ethan would squander match balls in the fourth before digging very deep to edge the fifth.

A relatively early night so plenty of opportunity for a few beers and lively conversation, to wash down a magnificent bangers, mash peas and onion gravy, with our guests praising the youth development under Dave Whitehead when a quick bit of mental maths established that wily old willo is pushing the average age of this team up to 26 !!!
