Report

Report: Only one team at home so the tattenhall team were limbering up on court when the barnton 'advance party' of Jamie and Mark arrived for this mid table clash.

Jamie's hard hitting rather overwhemed willo's tippy tappy squash and he was quickly two up, which was mirrored on court 1 where tattenhall Mark had squandered game balls in both games.

Both Tattenhall players would take the third but our guests regained their composure to go 2-0 up, but this was to be as good as it would get for our visitors.

It was like Family fortunes next as Father and son Abid & Armaan took on Welsh Junior international brothers Tom and Ethan.

Abid got very little change out of Tom and the hosts were back in the match.

on court 2 it was wham bam thank you ma'am as both players tried to pulverise the life out of our little double yellow spot ball. Armaan made fewer mistakes and took the first.

Ethan took guidance from his watching grandparents and parents and levelled the match then stormed out to 8-0 in the third. Armaan showed remarkable resilience and dug deep to get back into the game but Ethan squeaked through 11-9.

both players were playing superb squash with no quarter asked and no quarter given as a wonderful advert for the standard of junior squash in NWCSL with Ethan playing get ahead stay ahead to win the match and level the overall scores

and so a crowded balcony, glasses charged (for the over 18s) ready for the deciding rubber. Matt's speed around court was phenomenal and he covered every board on the newly refurbished court, but to no avail as to the delight of the home crowd Graham won 3-0 and the bonus points were staying at the Flacca.

The life of a NWCSL captain can be onerous ~ collecting match fees, submitting results, engaging in friendly discussion with other captains within the club before team selection, ensuring that every player knows how to get to the opposing club and contacting your opponents to inform of dietary requirements

Steve .... to misquote a Meatloaf song four out of five ain't bad but it was no trouble for the team at the Sports Club of the Year 2023 to accommodate Abid and Armaan's vegetarian request 😃
