once again, Dave arrived early, this time at the correct venue but found Max in relentless form and the hosts were one up.
Although both have been playing NWCSL for decades, Dabsy and Toby had never played each other. After a few tense opening rallies, the match came to an abrupt halt as an accidental clash of racquet to forehead resulted in a rather nasty gash on Steve's forehead.
the flow of blood was stemmed without the need for Terry Butcher style bandaging and battle resumed with Steve edging two -up with the tightest of margins. Toby dug deep to win in 5 and level the match,
willo was just too wily for hard hitting James in three close games with the score in the second not really reflecting james' endeavours.
another contrast of styles saw Graham go two up then weather a spirited fightback from Reuben who covered evey board on the court and demonstrated some superb racquet skills, to secure the match and the bonus points for the home team.
with two teams at home and competitive squash on both courts this was always going to be a late night and it was past 10pm when seasoned campaigners Mark and Graham took to the court.
The old adage of there being no such thing as a dead rubber rang true once again as it was evens stephens in the first two games before Mark got ahead and stayed ahead to secure the win and valuable points for our guests.
another super evening of 3SW squash followed by a handsome roast dinner and a few beers
