Report: Happy New Year everybody !

in the race to finish second behind High Flying Holywell, this was a top of the table clash. Both sides almost at full strength with Rick Hart getting the usual Tuesday night call up because Adam was unavailable for CRUFC first team and George failing a late fitness test for Tattenhall,

see saw squash saw Max and Gareth get to 2-2. Max is Tattenhall through and though and would give anything for the club and tonight it would be blood as an enthusiastic dive across the court would cause him to cut his nose !!

Following the 'blood break' Gareth would be fastest out of the blocks, getting ahead and staying ahead and our guests were one up.

one game played and it was already 8.15pm so having had a very late night last week with the first team the bar staff were already thinking of their overtime

they need not have worried as although some fantastic squash would be played and there would be heroics in each match, Graham would prove to be too strong for Carl, in the battle of the CCO old boys jacko would be too wily for willo and Marc would demonstrate some phenomenal 'go go gadget' retrieving to overcome Joe for respective 3-0 wins and the visitors were taking the bonus points back down the A41.

i have said many times that there is no such thing as a dead rubber and the No 1 strings were no exception with Matt, having been on the balcony since 7pm watching the success of his team mates would take the first with some sensational squash. jonny would dig deep to edge the second before maintaining momentum to have 4 game balls at 10-6 in the third before a ferocious fightback saw Matt win six on the bounce to go 2-1 up and crowd on the balcony were hot footing to the bar to recharge their glasses in eager anticipation of the match going the distance as indeed it did with Jonny, living up to his 'jonny 5 sets' moniker getting ahead and staying ahead to win in a thrilling five setter with the clock just sneaking past 11pm.

on the other court Tattenhall 3 were winning a ding dong encounter v our old friends from Whitby, (so good to see Nige Bailey back on court!). Excellent squash, crowded balcony and lively banter making this a Proper NWCSL Thursday to send Tattenhall 2 off into their six week break ...... see you all on Thursday 3rd March :-(
