Report

Report: Giles was due at a corporate dinner over in Knutsford so was keen to play first and go. he started brightly and was soon 2-0 up but Big John playing his first NWCSL match in twelve months following an ACL injury was to dig deep, cover every board on the court with a superb display of retrieving and sublime shots from every corner of the court to turn the match around and put our guests one up.

at different points in the match, both players took their frustrations out on their rackets! Thankfully, neither did too much damage to the court walls and hopefully Giles got to Knutsford in time for the main course.

At No 2 string, Max just about edged two close games then maintained momentum to level the match.

Smithy and willo have crossed swords on numerous occasions so are very familiar with each others games. Smithy was quickest out of the blocks to win the first game before willo had setttled down. your correspondent started to impose his slow slow style of play to take the second. two close fought matches followed with the host getting ahead and staying ahead and Tattenhall were two up and sniffing a second win of the season in their nostrils

Whitey was back in NWCSL action following a hamstring injury sustained in pre-season training and was finding Simon, promoted to Heswall 3rd team at lunchtime today, was to prove a very tricky adversay indeed. Simon had game balls in both of the first two games but Whitey would draw on all of his years of NWCSL experience to save these game balls and go on to convert his own and find himself two up. A spirited fight back from Simon saw him win games 3 and 4 quite comfortably which would mean that the match would go to a fifth game from which Whitey would pevail to give Tattenhall only their second win of the season and invaluable bonus points to move away from warington 4 at the bottom of the league,

As ever, there is no such thing as a dead rubber as Graham and Craig produced some sensational, crowd pleasing squash before Graham took control and make the final scoreline more one sided than it actually could have been.

another close match proving once again, excluding High Flying Holywell, just how competitive this division has become.

A superb supper of Bangers and mash with onion gravy had us wondering if Giles corporate dinner would taste as good as this !!!
