Report: | Another competitive and hugely enjoyable Thursday night of NWCSL Div 3SW Squash !!
Dave was so excited to get the match started that he arrived at approx 6.30pm ....... at Tattenhall!!
Whilst Dave was hotfooting back to Winsford, willo and Mark would get things started. Although both players are vastly experienced NWCSL players this may be the first time that they have played each other,
Mark started the better and found himself at game ball but wily old willo recovered his composure to take the first game and then maintain the momentum and go two games up. Mark's hard hitting drives, deft drops and brave boasts over powered his guest and the scores were soon tied. it was nip and tuck at the start of the decider before willo got ahead and stayed ahead to put the visitors one up.
now then.... people keep telling us that exercise is good for us but not so for Reuben who suffered an unfortunate injury whilst working out at the gym, which meant a call up for John. Graham had also been called up from Tattenhall 3s, so they were evenly matched which would be reflected in the scores, with Graham squeezing through after four tight games and Tattenhall were two -up.
your correspondent had hoped that he would not need to use a usual phrase but this was as good as it would get for the visitors.
Toby, as ever, started strongly and was quickly two games up. but was to squander six match balls across games three and four to overcome Graham's spirited fightback and the hosts were on the scoreboard.
On the other court see saw squash would see Gabe also not converting match balls as Max pulled the game back to 2-2 but it was the home player who would forge ahead and level the match.
In the decider, Dave would be just too clinical for Joseph and it would be another 'close but no cigar' outing for Tattenhall.
at this point your correspondent would usually say, hopefully, that there is always next week but high flying Holywell are waiting for us !
and so to a new venue for after match hospitality ' Pockets Snooker Club' where huge pizzas would be provided with doner meat, salad and chips for gluten free willo, generous portions all round.
Following his transfer from Cheshire Officers, Joseph has reactivited his ES membership so he now needs to be validated on NWCSL website so that the efforts of both Tattenhall and our recent opponents will be reflected in the league table.
