Report: | There was a packed gallery of spectators down to watch Tattenhall's juniors take on Lymm.
First up was Chris v David at no 5 string. Chris played really well, chasing every ball and playing some great shots. Lymm's David though was finding a good length and was just a bit too strong for Chris and won the first match for Lymm. Liam noted that Chris had served out 3 times so would need to run 30 Court sprints at Saturday morning training........!!
Then Ryan stepped in to try and get Tattenhall off the mark against Geoff. Geoff was playing volley nicks every time Ryan played a loose shot. Ryan kept battling though and ran for everything. It was nip and tuck throughout and went to the 5th set. The crowd were thoroughly enjoying themselves with lots of ooooooos and aaarrrrrrs. Geoff seemed to tire towards the end and Ryan dug in to just edge the match 15-12 in the 5th.
Honours even and up stepped Ethan at no 3 v Richard from Lymm. Ethan played some beautifully controlled squash in the first to win 15-4. In the 2nd Richard picked up the pace and put Ethan under pressure, but, the young man kept his focus to go 2 games up. In the 3rd Richard had run out of steam so Ethan closed it out for Tattenhall.
At no 2 string a confident Liam stepped on to play the experienced Rob. Rob played a lovely lob and drop game which worked well as the court cooled down. Liam struggled as he hadn't played against this kind of squash before. Rob won the first two, but,Liam game fully battled away and stole the 3rd 21-19. The crowd was getting excited sensing a comeback, but,Rob had other ideas and won the 4thto finish Liam off.
It was all on the no 1 string match.Young Tom against Tim. This was a very close encounter. Some terrific rallies and great squashby both players. Later on the walls got a bit wet which caused the ball to fly in all sorts of strange directions and angles......very entertaining for the crowd. The match went right to the wire with Tom winning 15-12 in the 5th.
Well done Tattenhall. Unlucky Lymm. |
