Report: | Frostie retired at 0-6 in the second game.
Captain Ketts was still recovering from his (sober) fall into a ditch two weeks ago so he brought in his secret weapon, well it would have been a secret had your correspondent not blurted it out in last week's match report!
Although working away Karl has been playing in both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire leagues but this is the BIG league !!
both players could still pay Divi 1 squash and JD probably will this season and this was squash of the highest order and an absolute joy to watch with JD taking the first two games but Karl digging deep to take the third with the highlight being an awesome rally finishing with some deft touches at the front of the court had Karl, off balance, playing a shot behind his back and JD shaping up to play a killing drop to end the rally only for the ball to spin viciously back the way it came and away from JD !
Karl, feeling a slight twinge in his hamstring was playing more measured squash but it was JD who would take the fourth and put our visitors one - up.
on Court 2 Frostie had gone off like a runaway train with some hard hitting squash which had our neighbours complaining about the noise and Chris Bluff checking that we had a few spare balls in our cupboard.
jon had regained his composure and taken the initiative in the second game when from the balcony the wexham sniper struck again with Frostie being forced to retire having suffered a back injury ~ Wexham two up!
Jonny worked tirelessly for little reward as Dazzer was imperious in secuing the bonus points for the Welsh Dragons.
there was a certain consistency in Tom's first two games, then he pulled back the third before Will too fleet of foot and strength of shot took the fourth and a five zip was on the cards.
Neil was not expecting to play team squash this season but was called up when Asho was unavailable. rather like a Premier League football club, Brymbo change their shirts rather frequently so Neil's 2018 red shirt showed how long it was since he was last on court on a Thursday evening but you would not have known as he took the first, with some beautiful boasts and deft drops that had Charlie scurrying all over the court.
Now you would think that Total Fitness Chester was a nice friendly place but Charlie had left his squash shoes there on Tuesday night and they had not been handed in so are probably on ebay now.
borrowing Tom's size 13 shoes proved no obstacle as he dominated the court to maintain his unbeaten start to the season and secure vital points for the hosts, who with Ketts' handing out more business cards for his friendly physio will be counting the walking wounded before our trip to Heswall next week. |
