Report: | Top of the league v tenth (bottom) in this Maundy Thursday match up and local derby but illness, injury, family birthdays and Easter weekend holidays meant that CCO 2, with huge apologies to Neston 3, were once again calling on third team players,
Frostie, with house guests expected later in the evening, had rushed from work to play first and wily old willo had pinched the first game before Frostie had got out of office mode but once the Ice Man got into his stride and wound up his windmill action then despite willo's valiant efforts, the game reached it's inevitable conclusion and our 'visitors' were one -up.
on the other court Nathan's verbal diarrhoea, physical control of the T (he shall not pass!!!) some sublime serves and deliciously deft drop shots got him ahead, but like willo this could not be sustained and CCO 1 were two -up.
That was as good as it got for the hosts as nice squash, endless running and tireless effort was. like King Canute , not enough to halt the tide as CCO 1 continued their quest to win the league.
CCO cafe / bar had been restocked so plenty of Sommersby, Shed Hed Ale and San Miguel for CCO 2 to drown their sorrows whilst CCO 1 contemplate the arrival of Crewe Vagrants next Thursday, plotting revenge and possibly 20 points that will secure promotion.
Have an enjoyable Easter weekend everybody ! |
