Report

Report:This match was a fine example of why we all play Thursday night squash.

A packed balcony witnessing two teams going head to head in a table topping clash. The atmosphere was a cocktail of passion, aggression, excitement and disappointment.

It was an emotional rollercoaster especially for Charlie who struggled to control any of his emotions when first on court against Ketts and quietly succumbed to a 3-0 defeat. Tattenhall 1 up and making a big statement.

Next up, two seasoned campaigners who delivered a stylish game of squash that could be argued hinged on the third game where Whitey had game ball to go 2-1 up. But he couldn't get over the line with Jacko holding his nerve to take a 2-1 lead and the momentum into a relatively tame 4th to win 3-1.

The pre match media had established string No4 as the key game and with it being St Patrick's day who would have any chance of beating Joe? Dabsy certainly gave it a good go and in a tense tit for tat encounter it came down to a dramatic 5th game with Joe taking a clear lead to reach 10-6. But wait, Dabsy rallied and saved a couple of match balls to actually have match ball. Was this the opportunity to dispel those Leprechaun myths once and for all? Alas no, Joe dug deep and called upon his ancestors to get over line 13-11.

Big Tom then took on not so little Graham. A tight first game with some fab shots set the scene for a well mannered four setter with Tom's wristy magic proving just a little to much for Graham to handle.

2-2 the decider - Jonny Vs Frosty the snowman

A frenetic early pace was set by Jonny, which in truth Frosty struggled to match, Jonny taking the 1st.

Frosty then employed a little unwarranted showmanship linked to a strategy of hoping Jonny runs out of petrol, the latter perhaps paid dividends by him narrowly winning the 2nd, 3rd and 4th game. But Jonny did himself and Tattenhall proud.

Credit where credit is due as CCO came and conquered but that was a battle and the war continues till 5th May 2022.

I love you all.
