| Report: | cco boys arrived promptly and began watching our third team training session, wondering if we should actually be playing away until Paul Metcalf the younger arrived approx 7.30pm to discover that he was the first Heswall player to arrive.
A quick change and a few stretches to ease a nagging hammy and the match was under way just after 7.40pm.
Although both Joseph and Paul were returning from injury neither had lost their devilish drives, deft drops and beautiful boasts and some great squash was played with Joseph just edging it in four close sets.
On the other court Paul had Dazza scampering to cover every board on the court and triumphing in five sets.
Seb bamboozled Stu but was unable to stay for food and we wish him well for tomorrow !!
A complete contrast of styles saw Ian's hard hitting overcome Willo's tippy tappy style of squash. Having driven up from Birmingham for this match Ian must surely be anominee for the Phineas Fogg award for most miles travelled on a Thursday night for the love of our game. Hopefully, unlike Cinderella he was home before midnight !
As ever, there is no such thing as a dead rubber in NWCSL and Roy and Craig entertained the crowd before Roy ruthlessly ended the match serving Craig a bagel.
Like our guests, our usually puntual China garden host was a little bit late this week but it was clear plates all round before most of our visitors headed back up the A540 with a well deserved win and the 5 bonus points in their kit bags and CCO boys look forward to next Thursday's clash with CCO 1 ..... BRING IT ON !!! |
