Report: | On arrival the men from Hyde found themselves having to blink from the OMO white reflection of court 2. However, the boys from Brooklands were well prepared wearing their Ray-Bans looking cool and collected for the task ahead.
The question on everyone’s lips and the local fox was, would the new look court 2 inspire the boys in blue to a season’s 5th win.
First on was Jon the air traffic controller Butson. Would he fly high and direct Paul I have just got back from a week in Tenerife Morris to a run-way defeat. There were lots of low flying shots from both players but the navigation skills around the court was too strong for the controller losing in 3.
Next on for the boys in blue was the surgeon Waq the Knife. This would be his toughest operation of the day against Dave I do sometimes smile on court Highcock. Not even the surgeon’s signature reverse angle boasts could stop the smiler taking the 1st game. However, after a new scrub-up and the precise incision of his drop shots into the nick the surgeon won in 4.
All square going into game 3. The artist just returning from a successful US exhibition tour by that a mean making an exhibition of him self by breaking a long standing Hickson family rule of not buying a round of drinks. His opponent was the up-and-coming Chris the headless chicken Leach. The artists extensive pallet brushed away headless in 5. So was the Tide turning in favour of the boys in blue.
It was up to Geoff the Pensioner Walton to get the win. It was not going to be an easy task against Lukasz the Albert Einstein look alike Bytner. Taking the famous quote from Prof E ‘If you can't explain it to a six-year-old, you don't understand it yourself ‘. Believe you me there were several instances within the game where the marker had to explain his decisions. Like all ground-breaking experiments the Eureka moment came in 5 with a win for the pensioner and the boys in blue.
You could feel and see the relief in the room that the Brookland boys had won. However, the job was not yet done
Last on was Gareth I have been practicing my drop shots Williams against the talented Liam the 2022 weight watchers slimmer of the year Toop. With only points and pride to play for both players gave their all. However, that drop shot practice proved decisive and led to a win in 4.
So the magic and the brightness of the new look court did inspire the Brookland boys to a must win match and going forward that the survival door was still ajar.
