Report

Report:This match had more thrills, twists and turns than a Harlan Coben novel. If you looked away to take a breath the plot was lost. Well, that was the case for Mike the nearly wed Selisny gasping for those pockets of oxygen while he was pushed from back corner to front corner and back again by the majestic Robbie the magic sponge physio Williamson. The nearly wed gave a brave fight but with lungs bursting and wishing he was on his stag night and not his fright night lost 3 zip.

However, I want to bring you all back to the start of the evening match it was between Jon air traffic controller Butson and Ben can’t remember the last time I played but I’m sure it was better than this Darlington. The controller was flying high winning the first two games at a cruising speed concord could only match. But then the controller hit turbulence that induced an altitude drop and Ben remembering how to play, reversing roles and landing a 3 / 2 win.

Next up was Charles the artist Hickson against the Derbyshire assassin Malcolm baby face Balls. This was the game of the night going one way and then the other. The artist begging for baby face to keep still so he could capture him on canvas. Alas the portrait was not finished however, the simulated brush strokes from the artists racket won through to level the team match at 1: 1

How do you follow that I’m sure you are all asking each other, well, this is how by matching up two players in the twilight of their careers like vintage wine they get better as they grow older. Well, that’s true for one at least.
Yes, it was the old rivals Geoff the pensioner Walton and Gary Mr curls Williamson. Could Mr curls get revenge for his first half defeat by the pensioner or would the pensioners investment of his winter fuel allowance on coaching have been worth it. Well, the simple answer is that yes it was with the pensioner proving too strong for Mr Curls. 2: 1 to Brooklands.

The match was on a knife edge so could Waqar the Surgeon Saadat perform the operation of his life and to gain victory against Tom The Tornado Blakeman or would the tornado Anaesthetist skills slow the surgeon down by limiting his oxygen intake. The tornado took a 2 love lead but the cutting skills of the surgeons drops won him a game. It now looked as though it might go all the way However emergency ward 10 was not enough for the surgeon to take it to 5 and lost the 4th 10:12
.
So the Brooklands boys went down 3:2 and the boys from the Disley hills went on their way to round up the sheep
THE END
