Report

Report: So another big game but with Alderley Edge having a reputation of not travelling well they brought a makeshift Team the club.
First on were Pete and Andy as Andy needed to get off to practice his Ploughing skills on the flat Alderley Edge fields!
It started well for Pete after he had been putting in some hard training work all week to regain his form. But Andrew should have taken the the 2nd with 4 game balls only to let Pete back in for a 12-10 win. That knocked the stuffing out of Andy with his mind keen to berate the Marker John, he lost concentration and the game 11-2. So 3-0 to Peter.
Mat and Dave on now and a gulf in Squash levels points should see a easy win for Matt. It proved to be correct but Dave did compete with long rallies but not seemingly able to turn these in to points.Matt came thru unscathed convincingly 3-0.
So Next on were Natalie and Dave at #3 with Dave very keen to redress the balance and out to avenge the loss of his unbeaten record to Natalie in week 8.
It started badly after a very tight and long first game with Natalie snatching it 13-11. Dave had to get the drop shot going fast! Thankfully he did just that'd Natalie unable to read the disguise too well, preventing her from getting forward, Dave brought home the points convincingly in the end 3-1.
The match won, could Woolston get maximum points to stay top?
Sean on now and even though Andy is a really tricky customer, Seans Div 1 experience should be enough. It looks that way with him taking the first 2 easily. But near disaster struck in the 3rd with Sean pulling a Glute muscle and losing the game 6-11. With some hasty thinking and not over stretching himself he came thru 11-8 to take it but a potential disaster averted and another 3 points bagged.
Last on and having a great season was John Boy Finn, having lost just the once all season, could he get the 20 points sorted for Woolston?
Potentially fireworks could be on display after the previous encounter between John and Christian in the first half but it was all smiles almost on court.
Joh taking the first playing well. But he didn't keep up the drop shot pressure letting Christian back in to level. John regained his plan again and dropped his way to snatch the 3rd. But again in the 4th Christian came back, Joihn forgetting to use what had done the business twice already. 2-2. And despite a potential hand grenade situation when marker Dave had to calm down both players with a difficult decision with a let. Christian came thru 11-6 and preventing Woolston Old Bastards from gaining the maximum 20 points having to settle for 19 and joint top of the league with Alderley Park having won with 20 points too. Pound in was a roll over again with a £15 Kitty to be played for at Alderley Park
