Report

Report: When you travel for approximately 40 minutes on three motorways and across county lines you are looking forward to having a good Thursday night and this certainly lived up to expectations.

CCO were greeted by the hugely impressive new glass back walls and balcony barriers, flooding light across the courts and giving great viewing from either the bar stools in the cool corridor or the leather sofa on the balcony, which for tonight became a part of Chester in East Cheshire.

CCO had eased their relegation worries overcoming Brymbo in a relegation 40 pointer last week and set about their task with purpose,

the first three matches followed the same pattern with the hosts starting slowly and losing the first games inexpensively, because there is nothing cheap about Knutsford, including a visit au boulangerie for John. then close second and third games .but the visitors just holding on to secure 3-0 wins and the bonus points would be heading west.Graham had found fleet of foot and hard hitting Charles a bit of a handful and very glad to be off in 3. This young man will certainly be one to watch next season.

Storm Gareth may have abated outside but Frostie's 'windmill' swing was still very evident. see saw squash saw Frostie just about win the first, then Dave win a richly deserved second before frostie raced ahead to win the fourth quite comfortably then play get ahead, stay ahead squash to secure a fourth win for the guests.

so with glasses charged, the CCO boys were snuggled on their leather sofa as Graham mercilessly set about winning the first game against a slow starting willo. . CCO boys were not too concerned as 'seasoned campaigner' willo either loses in 3 or wins in 5, so when his slowly, slowly catchy monkey sty;e of play saw him edge ahead and Graham blast his way back to take the fourth they were hoping it would be the latter.

a quick trip to the bar for refills and the balcony was packed as the fifth game swung either way before willo just snook it and 20 points would be winging their way down the M56. 3 points did not fully reflect the excellent squash played by our hosts and although the system has not reflected it, hopefully our league rep will update the 'junior point' the Charles toiled very hard for this evening.

and so through themaze and in to the bar ~ the draught house at knutsford sports club, according to the banner. This labyrinth could make a wonderful escape room but given the superb hospitality you would not want to get out. Freedom Lager and Mortimers orchard cider, gluten fee home made chicken tikka massaka pizza garlic bread and chocolate gateau ........ absolute heaven !!

Carlsberg may not do Thursday night squash nights but if they did it would be just like this :-)
