Report

Report:League leaders St Asaph made the cross border hop down the A55 in confident mood to put a dent in CCO's 5 match unbeaten run.

with no Eddie or Charlie, 'one eyed Joe' made an earlier than expected return to NWCSL squash. CCO played the 'put the driver on first' card and it worked for the first game until Jason eased himself out of 'driving mode' and Joe found that eight weeks off court would eventually take it's toll so our guests were one - up.

for anyone who is interested ...... the 'keep your eye on the ball' comment arrived at 8-7 in the first game !!

as he has done in all of his Divi 2 matches this season willo was quickly two - down and although he won the third, Rolf was just too quick and clever so held out to put the hosts 0-2 down and show that unless you are Roy C Sullivan, lightning does not strike six times.

Frosty and Ben put on a captain's display of super squash, luscious lengths, delightful drops and beautiful boasts. once again our visitor was two up, CCO man takes the third to set up a fantastic fourth. Frosty edges ahead and at 8-7 plays in his words and 'shot to win any match' but unfortunately these days we play to 11 and it was Ben who would take the spoils 12-10.

the contrast of styles between Graham and Chris made for compulsive viewing as sensational squash in the first was not reflected in the score as Graham got ahead and stayed ahead to go one up.. Chris did not get going in the second and Graham was on track to gain revenge for the first half reverse. Chris was quick out of the blocks to be 6-1 up in the fourth before the home player dug deep to recover the deficit including one extraordinary rally that ended with a forehand drop shot from the back of the court gliding into the backhand side at the front of the court and nestling in the nick which had the crowd in rapture. Graham saved the game ball at 10-9 and held on to prevent the whitewash.

Having waited since 7 o'clock to get on court and despite Toughmudder's best endeavours George was not hanging aorund because CCO 3rd team needed the court to complete their top of the table match with Winsford 2 and more importantly the Kam Xin delivery lady was on her way.

so 6 valuable points for CCO in their endeavours at the foot of the table, 17 points for St Asaph would be enough to keep their noses in front of the chasing pack ....... Champions elect? possibly ?
