Report: | Tattenhall up to full strength for the first time this season were hoping for a good result. But Heswall, vying for promotion, were looking strong.
First up Old man Whitey v Pete Barton. Whitey oozed class to take the first 11-4, but, Pete worked his socks off to take the 2nd and get back in the game. It looked like it could have gone either way but the cold man had to pull out injured. 1st blood to Heswall.
Then Ketts v Andy....Ketts was feeling confident at no3, but, Andy just had too much pace. 2-0 to Heswall.
Then the big guns, Liam v Mike.....what a fantastic game....long rallies, at pace, some fantastic retrievals. The crowd were mesmerised. Liam won a close fought 1st and then had an easier 2nd. It looked like Mike had wilted. But he stormed back to take the 3rd and Liam looked tired. Liam just had enough petrol in the tank to pull the 4th ....points at last for Tattenhall.
Then another battle with Karlos v young Tom. Karlos took the 1st 2 but Tom dug deep to pull it back to 2-2. All on the fifth game......Karl's experience paid off. All square.
The decider....magical big Tom v Andy Mac. Tom was hitting his usual screamers but Andy was well up for the battle and looked fit. Andy didn't let Tom get in the game and won the match for Heswall.
What a great night of squash.
