Report: | A big match for both teams, both desperate for points after slow starts to the season. Knutsford were still without their top 3 players from the previous season, but, Tattenhall had Ketts back in at no 1 and were feeling confident.
First up, with a very early start, was Tom v Dave. The ball was hot and Tom was really finding his touch having now played acfew matches. He was just too strong for Dave and cruised to a 3-0 win.
Next up the captain's, Whitey v Graham. It was a steady close first game with Graham getting to game ball, but, Whitey just managing to pullnitvback to win 12-10. After that Whitey started to control the rallies and was just a little too strong for Graham. 2nd match to Tattenhall.
Next the youngsters, Georgy boy v John. Both players smacking the ball around the court and running around like rabbits.....giving the ref a few tricky decisions to make. Not quite textbook squash but certainly entertaining. At 1-1 the third went to the wire....George scraped through 12-10. In the final game George got a little argumentative with the marker (his team mates thought this merited an additional contribution to the Christmas fund😁).....this gave him his mojo back and he crept homec11-8.
Then the maestro Ketts at no 1 v Greg. Ketts looked just too strong from the off taking the first 11-1. But credit to Greg, he dug in and pushed Ketts in the next two, just losing both to 8 points. Good to have Ketts back.
Finally a real battle of the ages. Baby max, who has just learned to tie his shoe laces v experienced Pete, who looked like he knew his way around a squash court. 3 close games followed and, despite Pete's court craft, the youth and fitness of Max won the day.
Match to Tattenhall. |
