| Report: | Whitby welcome Moss Farm tonight and we thought we’d get off to a strong start with 1st and 2nd strings up on court right away.
Charlie (or as we now call him the Naked Plumber) faced off against Paul. Credit to Paul he tried hard and got himself a good sweat on but the Naked Plumber put the game to bed comfortably.
John & Chris played out a reply of the opposite fixture earlier in the season and like then played out a 5 setter. This time however John listened to some advice and calmed down in the final game to be a bit more clinical to see the match out.
Up next was a welcome sight with long-term absentee due to injury Tommy back on court v Mandy. Nothing has changed he still can’t move but he didn’t need to as you don’t get the ball past Tommy on a Thursday. His trademark ding-dongs into the corners were still as prevalent as ever and with Mandy sitting back he took the game comfortably.
So early win for Whitby up next is Steve v Keith. Keith started well and took control of the tee in the first game before a spirited fight back in the 2nd from Steve. The next 2 just about went the way of Keith to get some points on the board for Moss Farm.
Last on court was Shaun v Gary in a very contentious game by the sounds of it. Gary made most of the running which in the end was enough to see off Shaun and make the match tighter than we would have liked.
Back to the bar for Chicken Curry and Rice, Whitby food is definitely getting better. Good luck for the rest of the season Moss.
