| Report: | Last showdown of the year at Whitby and first on court is Paul v Will. Paul who had to endure a sub-zero cold court last time at home threw his toys out the pram and cried until he was given court 1 this time round, and in fairness to him it worked as he dispatched will quite comfortably 3-0
Next, it was John v Dave & with a lot of alcohol still in his system couldn’t feel the cold on court 2 and despite facing a game ball in game 3 allowed the fear of a 4th game to drive him back into gear and steel the game for the match 3-0
Next, up is Charlie & Paul, and with Charlie finally getting his new club shirt obviously didn’t want it to get sweaty so just tap danced on the spot to confuse his opponent, which seemed to work as he comfortably took the match.
Up next was Shaun v Mike with the whole Stout family Clan on the balcony to support him wanted to give them a show with the closet game of the evening. Shaun had enough in his locker to ride out the fight back from Mike in the 3rd to keep his nose in front and seal the win in the fourth and give his travelling entourage something to cheer.
So last up we have Andy v Jason which on paper seemed like it would be a very tricky one for our handicapped talisman however Andy decided to put on a masterclass of racket skills sending the ball tight into every corner and making Jason’s running ability redundant and giving Whitby our long overdue 20 points.
So game done back to the bar for grub and a special xmas cheeseboard and mince pies and a few drinks. Nice to see the Heswall lads again look forward to the return fixture all that’s left to say is hope everyone in the league has a great Christmas and we go again in 2024!
