Report

Report:Cold night at Whitby with repair work on the heaters meaning it was late in the day to get some heat on the courts. First up on a warmer court 1 was Dave v Stuart. Very even games with Stuart just about getting over the line in the 4th to prevent an all important 5 game for Dave who was unlucky not to get more out of that match.
Next on the very cold court 2 was Paul v Mike, Mike coming straight from a cold hub in work may have been better acclimatised to the conditions as Paul struggled to deal with the physics of a squash ball travelling through much colder air than he's used to.

So 2 down for Whitby and worries starting to creep in. Next on Court 1 was John v Lindsey and seeing the what had previously happened decided to take nothing for granted and put his foot on the gas throughout the match to avoid any potential banana skins Lindsey could have thrown at him.
back to 2-1 and Shaun v Paul in the ICE BOX that is court 2. Shaun trying his hardest to get heat into the ball whilst Paul is dropping it from everywhere like its a stone takes an early 2-0 with breath almost visible from their mouths and court 1 empty they decided to move onto C1 for the remainder of the match which proved invaluable to Shuan who was finally able to demonstrate his superiority on court with a convincing display and a crucial fight back to win 3-2.
2 all and down to the real squash players Charlie and Jason. Jason set out to play his more unorthodox style of squash combined with some amazing lobs which was catching Charlie out until Charlie imposed himself on the game and forced Jason into playing his way something his didn't like and Charlie gained control of the match and seeing it out comfortably and saving his beloved Whitby's blushes.
Back to the bar and it was an early one for Whitby's standards but pleasant all the same and nice to see the Holywell crew again.
