Report

Report: Promotion chasing Molly were hoping for another win over the Whitby boys, but alas everything came unstuck.

Jon on first after promotion from the second team, did every one proud by taking down a very awkward opponent in Sats.

Next up was another john, struggling to get back to his best after the covid lockdown. what a game to watch, great for the neutrals heart pumping for the rest, to and fro, fro and to. there was nothing between the two except John got the important winning ball. Kav you were definately unlucky not to take a game.

Shaun was hoping for revenge against the youngest opponent of the night after losing to James in the first half.. But alas failed by the slimmest of margins, rueing not taking 3 game balls in the third game.

Tom came oh so close to upsetting Steve, first two games even, Steve upped his game to take the third, but the fourth was the key game. Tommy led 10-7 only to let it slip and leave the match on a knife edge going into the last game.

So at 2-2, Andy and Rolf walked on court to rapturous applause from both teams. Rolf started the better of the two only for Andy to come back strong and take the first game. Then it was vintage Rolf, Andy chased , but to no avail, 1-1. Another very close game in the third with Andy just taking it. The fourth game was all about the noise coming from the balcony, it was cacophonous in its volume. Andy used the adrenaline boosting noise to his advantage to take the win.

An unexpected win for Whitby, but well earned.
