Report

Report: A busy night at the Whitby club last night, having two teams at home, so a late night expected.

Steve up first vs super fit and fast Blake. First game was hectic to say the least but Steve kept composed under pressure to take the honours. Unfortunately for Steve the effort he had to put in to win that first game backfired over the next two games with Blake running circles around his now static feet. The final game was a much closer affair as Steve got his second wind, but Blake was on a roll and took the points.

Cameron and Paul then had to try and match the excitment of that first game and to be fair, got close (if only Cam had won that second game). Paul in the end just had too much skill and took the game.

John vs Sats, how to descibe this one. Everyone knows when Sats plays well he's nigh on unplayable, but when he's bad, he's very bad and if you look at the scores for the first four games it shows this to a tee. So its down to the wire with John showing more skill and desire to come out on top.

Tommy on next in the crucial game to keep Whitby's hopes of a win alive. Both players gave there all as the tension grew. Phil off to a flyer in the first only for Tom to exert his game to take the next two. Phil wasn't finished though and stormed back to take the fourth and another game goes to the wire. Tom managed to stay ahead of Phil right until the end ( we all know how hard it is to get that last point)so at 14-9 Tom thought it was won, Phil with years of experience behind him dug into his book of tricks to level the scores at 14-14 (with a little help from the marker) but when the chips are down is when Tommy comes alive and he took the final two points to put all the pressure on to Shaun's shoulders in the final match up.

Shaun, not feeling the pressure was sublime in the first and oh so close in the second, but from there it was Steve's extra desire and drive that took him to victory.
