Report

Report:CCO welcomed Barnton and having narrowly lost in East Cheshire / Vale Royal / the narrow lane beside the school that everybody misses the first time you play there or wherever it is were quietly confident of ending the champions elect undefeated run. However, CCO were without Tony Wimpenny who having been ruthlessly felled by a South African wildebeest last week ( Graham Lea-Swain was still soaking blood out of the floorboards this evening as he began his pre- match warm up at 5.30) was off selling sand to the Arabs and wilko was back for our guests having missed our previous match when displaying his artistic side by taking his Mum down to London to watch 'The Jersey Boys' aaaah bless!

Mr 100% made a welcome return for CCO, started slowly then pushed Crossy close before the six week lay off proved too large an obstacle to overcome meaning our visitors were one up and with Lee driving Crossy was hotfooting it to the bar.

It was deja vu for Tony and jamie as Tony took the first, Jamie quickly countered, a tight third game went Jamie's way and he strode purposefully on through the fourth to put the league leaders two up.

Nathan has always talked a good game and as well as playing Carlsberg squash (probably the best he has plyed all season) he was talking Iain out of the first game and in to a 10-3 lead in the second. Iain dug deep and slowly but surely ate in to Nathan's lead until at 8-10 Nathan's sphincta held firm and he was two up although our good friends at Paddy Power still had Iain as favourite to win and they appeared to know their stuff as in a complete role reversal the scotsman took the third comfortably. Nip and tuck in the fourth with the host squandering a match ball as iain took the fourth and his 'in play odds' were slashed. even steven through the fifth until nathan found unknown depths of stamina and 'skill' to eke out an unlikely comeback.

had the tide turned?

NO! this was as good as it got for the home team as Wilko and Lee saw off Roy and willo and rather than denting the Barnton Promotion Wagon we had merely given it another lick of turtlewax for the homecoming parade when they are officially crowned champions on 21/3 when they play their only rivals Chester Rugby Club 2. Ticketmaster have announced that tickets are selling fast !!
