| Report: | having lost a close cross-border derby last week CCO began their home campaign hosting a Winsford team buoyed by promotion by wrecked by injury and unavailability. it's nearly two years since both Dave jack and Tom Dobson graced the NWCSL stage. After becoming a father at the ripe old age of 47 Dave has not had a full night's sleep in 14 months and Tom is slowly returning from injury, so both were delighted to find that it was still strings and not a cobweb in the frame of their racquet. Dave overcame a lean mean squash machine that is a 5 stone lighter Mark Abiss, Tom valiantly survived 5 sets, taking two valuable points back up the A54 but may be walking like John Wayne for the next few days. Toby weathered a bit of wobble against wily old willo uttering some choice anglo saxon words along the way which thankfully young Reuben was too busy on the neighbouring court to hear. With Granddad Reg on the balcony, Toby on one court and Reuben on the other who says Squash doesn't bring families together and it's got to be better than sitting in and watching Masterchef. The tail wagged for CCO as both Nige and Nathan won comfortably to give CCO their first win of the new campaign. There is no in house catering at CCO this season, so with 40% off orders over £35 at Pizza Hut it was pizzas, nachos, potato wedges & garlic bread for supper. it's good to be back! |
