Report

Report: Woolston 1 have only 1 thing on their mind and thats winning the Title. Which means a ruthless streak has now emerged, with 20 points needed every week.

So Northern 4 and could they stop Woolston 1 getting those 20 points.
First on were Matt and Pete, which was a good game on paper. But Matts head seemed elsewhere and he didn't focus his energies on beating his opponent but his racket instead. This played into Pete's hands as he is always very calm. And despite incredible effort Matt couldn't get near and Pete eased thru to a 3-0 win.
Next on Dave and Nichol. It started well for Dave going 8-1 up but almost let it slip eventually winning the first 11-9. Thankfully the next two games were slightly more comfortable for "The Guillotine" with the drop shot catching Nichol almost every time. A really nice game to play in and a good spirit observed. 3-0 to Dave
Matt V Steve up now. Some very long gruelling rallies played out but luckily for Matt, who was very tired after two late shifts at work, the rallies seemed to go his way. Steve was proving a decent stubborn opponent and Matt had to rely on his vast experience to come thru, even though Steve took the 3rd game!
Next up Ian V Ben, and Ben made a great start easily taking the 1st. Thankfully for Woolston Ian learned from that loss and despite a very very tight 11-13 in what proved to be the final game Ian grabbed the win 3-1.
Could John "Boy" Finn make it a clean sweep? Well Roger had something to say and the game was well poised at 1-1, But a bit of coaching from Ian sorted the balance out and John eventually came thru 3-1.
So the maximum 20 points achieved and with Alderley park dropping a point in their match Woolston extended the lead at the top to 16 points.
Meanwhile Northern 4 are well safe now with Crewe 4 and Lymm 1 almost certainly relegated barring a miracle now.
Great night and the Northern boys were really good company along with some lovely food in probably the nicest club in the league.
Thanks gents
