Report

Report:Another close one which went the way of Woolston this time round. Lots of close matches yet again. Get well soon, Dave Williams!

Thanks Simon, here are Matts words for this one.

Sean Hunter v Paul Norman
Big match this one as both team wanted to start the night strong on the warm glass back.
Its fair to say Sean wasn't quick out the blocks. In fact there was so much concern that Sean was injured that there was no point in going to offer positive words after he got stuffed in the first game.
Sean didn't come off Court anyway and had a face like thunder.
2nd game started off pretty much the same however at 9-5 down in 2nd Sean suddenly got something from somewhere and started playing like he was 21 again?
After winning the 2nd Sean Slipped again letting Paul in to win the third.
Sean needed to pull his finger out and eventually huffed and puffed through the 4th and winning the 5th to take the match.
Pete Kelly v Simon Morrison.
Well it was starting to look like a marathon night especially after Pete and Simon went 18-16 in the first (won by kelly who came off Court looking like a lobster!)
Watching from the balcony it was evident that although Simon came back and won the second the first game had took it out his legs. 3rd and 4th got a bit messy but the referee Dave Kelly did a great job of keeping it together. Pete managed to keep just a keep a couple of points ahead in each game managing the 3-1 win.
Matt Uren v Dave Kelly
This game had to be played on Court 2 so not to upset the leisure centre staff who wanted to go home. Matt thought they had turned the lights off early only to discover there were actually 4 bulbs missing in the back forehand corner. Anyway it was Dave who was chasing shadows as Matt was very keen to get on and off court taking a 3-0 win. just happened to be the match decider following another epic 3-2 between Woolston and Alderley.
And as if the red hot heaters and the red hot squash wasn't enough to get you sweating then the Bengal Tiger definitely was.
Great night and hospitality at Alderley Park.
