Report

Report: A tough away fixture at Crewe 3 was the task for Promotion chasing Woolston. The match in the first half was tougher than the 4-1 scoreline suggested.
First on was John V Kieron, and bound to be a game of attrition with both players fast and fit.
Kieron took a close first 12-10, but John had learn't from this loss and came back in a close 2nd but then took overall control to come thru unscathed 3-1, in an exciting first match.
On the other spare court Matt was making light work of Ben, although Ben should have won the second when 7-2 up, he let it slip to lose 11-7. This took the fight out of Ben somewhat to see Matt take the 3rd 11-3.
So Could Ian coming back from a 2 week layoff get the match victory for Woolston OB. Well the break had done Ian well and he was in fantastic form winning both the first 2 games 11-5 and looking mean & lean, with Gareth unable to suss out Ian's superb racket skills with any effect, a slightly closer 3rd game but the Victory was Ian's 3-0 and the match secured just down to Pete and Dave to try and bag the maximum 20 points.
Pete on and looking for revenge against Mike who defeated Peter in the first half 3-1 with a whirling dervish of a display.
This time Pete was ready and it looked like Mike was going to grab the 1st being 9-7 up but Pete was not to be beaten tonight coming back to take a frantic first game 11-9. The 2nd was a controlled display by Pete winning 11-2, this didn't do Mikes confidence any favours eventually showing with Pete taking the match 6-11 and another 3 points in the bag.
Last on was almost birthday boy Dave, but not feeling great having been suffering with a heavy cold all week.
And it was a re match against Martin who was out for revenge having been 2-0 in the first half's fixture only to see Dave come back for a 3-2 win.
So off they went and Dave looked comfortable taking it 11-6, but then proceeded to cough half his lungs up in between the games. A monster game saw Martin come back 14-12 to level. It was obvious this was going all the way, 3rd game close 11-9 to Dave, but back came his opponent convincingly 11-5. And into a decider, thankfully Dave found some levels of control with tight back hand fade drives to squeeze out the win and grab 20 points.
A treble roll over means an £18 £ in comp against Alderley Park in a crucial table topping match next week, which could well decide the title
Good night at Crewe and a great Chicken Curry washed down with a few Erdingers
