Report: Home Team Match Report to Follow:-

Well another big game against a fellow promotion seeking team, thats if they can find a new home for. next season, but that's another story.

So first on and the big guns were straight into it, Nş1's Matt V Paul, a steady start btw sussing each other out. Eventually Matt edging a very tight one 13-11. But as has happened in recent weeks Matt has this knack of working put any type of opponent. This meant he ground out a fairly comfortable last 2 games to take it 3-0.

Next up Kelly V Kelly, but which one would win? Well Peter wanted revenge for a Cheshire comp 3-2 defeat. It started well for Pete seemingly quite comfortable in the first. But Dave came right back at him in the second. Tables turned yet again in the 3rd with a repeat of game 1, only to do a repeat for Dave in the 4th. So nicely balanced for the decider, or so we thought, but unbeknown to Dave, but Pete had pulled his groin in earlier on and basically was struggling, it proved too much in an already tight match. Yes you have guessed it, Dave won the 5th comfortably.
So 1-1 and very even between these to quality teams.

It was Woolston Skipper Dave V a chomping at the bit Simon, could Simons youth overcome the experience of Dave?
As predicted by Squash levels ranking it was tight, with a mammoth first game going Dave's way 15-13, in a game that last 15 minutes! Simon didn't lie down and took the 2nd comfortably. But after some more good tactics coaching from John Finn, the next was a very one sided affair 11-3 to Woolston. Simon would not give in though and came thru again to level it. So another match goes into the decider, which was nip and tuck until 7-7 when Simons engine started to splutter which Dave took advantage of with marginally stronger fitness levels to grab a tight 3-2 win.

A 100% for the season John on next against Pete. It didn't look like a perfect start to the season was continuing as John was all over the place in the first couple of games. Getting angry and wound up, with Pete just taking advantage of schoolboy mistakes from John. A quiet word with himself in the break and some calming thoughts did the trick though as John snatched a tight 3rd and cruised to the 4th, could he sit it through? Well to be fair to Pete he had also steadied the ship and took a commanding lead early in the decider which John couldn't bridge, eventually going down 11-8.

So all square in a titanic match.
Our highly experienced World Champion Ian against Neil on last to decide the match. Well a blistering, Nik fest from Ian claiming an impressive 11-1 win. But whatever Neil's team mates told him in the break did the trick for him to level it in the next game. From then on it was a tight match, Ian snatching close 3rd and Neil bouncing Straight back again. So the whole night came down to 1 game with the match all square. By this time it was a crazy 10.45pm, and almost time for bed, but not of these 2 players. It looked a though Neils superior fitness levels were going to run away with the match at the midway point with a 7-3 lead, but Ian dragged his last dregs of energy to get back to 9-9. But it took its toll and he ran out of steam for the last 2 points with Neil claiming. a great win and yet another epic 3-2 match.
As a close as it gets with Woolston actually scoring ore points with 12 but still losing, and etc match wth some great opposition who also found it compulsory to all sport beards for their Squash night!
Pie and chips at 11:15pm and some good squash banter rounded the night off with Matt winning the £ in comp for good measure. Well do AP a good win.
